About the
Artist

Sara Elizabeth Buchanan ~ artist name Sahra ~ is a self-taught Liberian artist whose creativity is influenced by her mother and mentor, renowned African artist Milly Buchanan. Sahra's art is primarily on a smaller scale using graphic pens, yet is a new extension of Milly's Afro-Cubist style. Sahra draws inspiration from the beauty and strength of African women and much of her work showcases the many facets and roles of a woman.

Sahra’s work has been exhibited at UNESCO in Paris France, and the United States and she recently illustrated Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Madame Leymah Gbowee’s latest book, Monday’s Motivations: Reflections During a Pandemic.

In addition to her work as an artist, Sara has held senior leadership roles in the U.S., Europe, and Africa as a dedicated international philanthropic leader with expertise in digital inclusion, especially as it relates to bridging the gender digital divide in Africa. Sara remains a motivated activist for Economic Empowerment in Africa, is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and is the proud mother of four exceptional children: Stavros, Gifty, Zoë and Emilly-Sarai.
